Story of the Hare and the Tortoise
ကၽြန္္မ နာမည္
မတူပါ။ ကၽြန္မ ငယ္ငယ္က ပံုျပင္ေတြ အမ်ားႀကီး နားေထာင္ခဲ့ဖူးပါတယ္။ အဖိုး အဖြားနဲ႕
အေမအေဖတို႕ က ေျပာျပၾကျပပါတယ္။ ေက်ာင္းမွာလည္း ဆရာ ဆရာမေတြက ေျပာျပၾကပါတယ္။
ငယ္ငယ္တုန္းက ပံုျပင္နားေထာင္ရ တာကို အရမ္းႀကိဳက္ပါတယ္။
My name is Ma Too. When I was young, I have listened
to many stories from my grandfather, grandmother, and my parents. My teachers
at school also told stories to me. When I was very young, I liked to listen to
stories very much.
ပံုျပင္ေျပာရတာကိုလည္း ကၽြန္မ ၀ါသနာပါတယ္။ အခု ရွင္တို႕ကို
ကၽြန္မ ပံုျပင္ တစ္ပုဒ္ ေျပာျပပါမယ္။ ကၽြန္မ ပံုျပင္ ေျပာၿပီးတဲ့အခါ ဒီပံုျပင္နဲ႕ပတ္သက္လို႕
ေမးခြန္းေလးေတြလည္း ေမးၾကဖို႕ ကၽြန္မ ေတာင္းဆုိခ်င္ပါတယ္။
Narrating stories is my hobby as well. Now I will
tell one story to you. I would like to request you to ask some questions relating
to this story when I finish.
အခု ကၽြန္မ ေျပာျပမဲ့ ပံုျပင္ကေတာ့ ျမန္မာကေလးေတြ ႏွစ္သက္တဲ့
ပံုျပင္ပါ။ ထိုင္းလူမ်ိဳးေတြမွာလည္း ဒီပံုျပင္မ်ိဳး ရွိပါတယ္။
Now I will tell a story that Myanmar children like
very much. Thai people also have the same story.
ကၽြန္မေျပာမဲ့ ပံုျပင္က ´ယုန္နဲ႕လိပ္´ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။
The name of the story I’m going to tell is “The Hare
and the Tortoise”.
တခါက ယုန္တစ္ေကာင္ဟာ ဒီလုိ ၾကြားေလ့ရွိတယ္။ ငါက ဒီ ေတာမွာရွိတဲ့
သတၱ၀ါ အားလံုးထက္ ပိုၿပီး အေျပးျမန္တယ္။ ဒါ ေၾကာင့္ အားလံုးကို အေျပးၿပိဳင္ဖို႕ စိန္ေခၚတယ္။
ဒါေပမဲ့ ဘယ္ တိရစၧာန္ကမွ သူနဲ႕ အေျပး မၿပိဳင္ခဲ့ၾကပါဘူး။
Once upon a time, there was a boastful hare who said
that he was the fastest runner among all animals in this jungle. So he asked all
animals to race with him. However, none of animals has ever raced with him.
တေန႕မွာေတာ့ ယုန္ရဲ့ စိန္ေခၚခ်က္ကို လက္ခံၿပီး ၿပိဳင္မဲ့
သတၱ၀ါ တေကာင္ ရွိလာခဲ့တယ္။ အဲဒီ ၿပိဳင္ဘက္ကေတာ့ လိပ္ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ လိပ္က
One day, there was an animal who accepted the hare’s
challenge. The rival was a tortoise.
´ကိုယုန္.. ခင္ဗ်ားနဲ႕ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ အေျပးၿပိဳင္မယ္။ ဘယ္လိုလဲ´
The tortoise said “Mr. Hare, I will race with you.
How’s that sound?”
လုိ႕ ေျပာတာ့ ယုန္က အားရပါးရ ရီလိုက္ပါတယ္။ ၿပီးေတာ့
The hare heard that and belly-laughed, then he said
´ဟား… ဟား.. ဟား.. ေတာ္ေတာ္ ရီစရာ ေကာင္းတဲ့ အေကာင္။ မင္းကမ်ား.
ငါ့ကို အေျပးၿပိဳင္မတဲ့လား´
လုိ႕ ေျပာေတာ့ ယုန္က
“Ha… ha… ha… Tortoise,
you are very funny animal! Will You race
with me?
´ဟုတ္တယ္။ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ခင္ဗ်ားကို ႏိုင္ေအာင္ ေျပးမယ္။ ခင္ဗ်ားကို
အႏုိင္ယူျပမယ္´
ဟု တုန္႕ျပန္ေျပာခဲ့တယ္။
“Yes, I will
win the race. I will get victory”, replied the tortoise.
ယုန္ကေတာ့ လိပ္ကို အထင္ေသးစြာနဲ႕ ၾကည့္ၿပီး သေဘာတူလိုက္ပါတယ္။
The hare looked down at the tortoise and agreed to
race with the tortoise.
သေဘာတူၿပီးၾကတဲ့ ေနာက္မွာ သူတို႕ ႏွစ္ေကာင္ဟာ အေျပးၿပိဳင္ၾကတယ္။
Then both animals started racing.
ေရွ႕ဦးစြာ ယုန္ဟာ လိပ္ေရွ႕က အေ၀းႀကီးကို ျမန္ျမန္ ေျပးသြားခဲ့ပါတယ္။
လိပ္ကေတာ့ ထံုးစံအတိုင္း ေျဖးေျဖးခ်င္း ေနာက္ က လိုက္လာေနတယ္။ လိပ္နဲ႕ ေတာ္ေတာ္ေလး
ေ၀းတဲ့ ေနရာကို ေရာက္ေတာ့ ယုန္ဟာ ေျပးေနတာကို ရပ္လိုက္ၿပီး အိပ္ပစ္လိုက္တယ္။
At the beginning, the hare ran very fast and was far
away in front of the tortoise. The tortoise was following slowly and regularly
as usual so it’s very far from the hare, who had stopped and went to sleep.
ဒီအခ်ိန္မွာ လိပ္ကေတာ့ ေျဖးေျဖးမွန္မွန္ လာခဲ့ၿပီး ယုန္ကို
ေက်ာ္တက္သြားပါတယ္။
Meanwhile, the tortoise came slowly and steadily, arrived
and passed the hare.
ဒီလိုနဲ႕ လိပ္ဟာ ယုန္ အိပ္ေပ်ာ္ေနစဥ္မွာဘဲ ပန္းတုိင္ အနီးကို
ေရာက္ရွိသြားခဲ့ပါတယ္။
Like this, the tortoise arrived at the goal while
the hare was sleeping.
အဲဒီအခ်ိန္မွာ ယုန္ဟာ ႏိုးလာခဲ့ၿပီး ရုတ္တရက္ လွမ္းၾကည့္လိုက္ခ်ိန္မွာ
လိပ္က ပန္း၀င္သြားခဲ့ပါၿပီ။
At that time, the hare woke up and immediately looked
at the goal, but the tortoise already arrived there.
အၾကြားသန္တဲ့ ယုန္ဟာ အလြန္ေႏွးတဲ့ လိပ္ကို အရွုံး ေပးလိုက္ရပါၿပီ။
So the boastful hare lost the very slow tortoise in
the race.
ပံုျပင္ကေတာ့ ဒီေလာက္ပါဘဲ။
This is the end of the story.
