၁။ ေလေလ…      …     … ေလေလ

The more …..  the ..er

The more you learn, the more knowledge you will get.

မင္းႀကိဳးစားေလေလ မင္းဟာ ပညာေတြ ရလာေလေလဘဲ။

The more you study, the better student you will be.

သင္ႀကိဳးစား သင္ယူေလေလ သင္ဟာ ပိုေတာ္တဲ့ ေက်ာင္းသား ျဖစ္လာေလေလဘဲ။

မတူဟာ ျမန္မာစကားကို ႀကိဳးစားလာေလေလ ေတာ္လာေလေလဘဲ။

The more Ma Tu tries hard in Myanmar language, the better she is.

အခန္းကို သန္႕ရွင္းေရး မလုပ္ဘဲ ထားေလေလ ညစ္ပတ္ေလေလ ျဖစ္လာတယ္။

The more you don’t clean your room, the dustier your room will be.  

အရက္သမားေတြဟာ ႀကီးလာေလေလ မိုက္လာေလေလ ပါဘဲ။

The older drunkards are, the more stupid they are.

အစိုးရေတြ ေကာင္းေလေလ တုိင္းျပည္ေတြ တိုးတက္ေလေလ ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

As adj as

ႏြယ္ႏြယ္သည္ ေဇာ္ေဇာ္ အရပ္ရွည္ သေလာက္ ရွည္္သည္။

Nwe Nwe is as tall as Zaw Zaw.

သူဇာသည္ နုနလွုသေလာက္ မလွဘူး။

Thuzar is not as pretty as Nu Nu.

ဂ်ပန္ႏုိင္ငံဟာ အိႏိၵယႏိုင္ငံေလာက္ မၾကီးပါ။

Japan is not as large as India.

ရုပ္ရွင္မင္းသမီး ခၽြန္ဖု လွသေလာက္ ေအးျမတ္သူလည္း လွပါတယ္။

Aye Myat Thu is as beautiful as Thai movie star Chompu is.

မစၥတာ စုန္ခ်ိဳင္း လုပ္တတ္သေလာက္ ကိုဖီးလည္း တတ္ပါတယ္။

Ko Pi can do as capable as Mr. Sonchai does.

ဖိစူရာခ်ိဳင္ ျမန္မာစကား ေျပာႏိုင္သေလာက္ေတာ့ မဆုဒါလည္း ေျပာႏိုင္ပါတယ္။

Ma Suda can speak Myanmar language as well as Phi Surachai talks.

ႏုႏု အဂၤလိပ္စကား နားလည္သေလာက္ ကိုစိုင္းလည္း နားလည္ပါတယ္။

Ko Saing understands English as well as Nu Nu understands it.

မက္ဆီ ေဘာလံုးကစားတာ ေတာ္သေလာက္ ရုိနာလ္ဒိုလည္း ေတာ္ပါတယ္။

Ronaldo can play football as good as Messi.

၃။ ေသာ္လည္း    

Although /  though    

သူသည္ ေနာက္က်ၿပီးမွ စလုပ္ေသာ္လည္း ပထမဦးစြာ ျပီးစီးသည္။

He finished first although he began late.

သူၾကိဳစားေသာ္လည္း မေအာင္ျမင္ပါ။

Although he worked hard, he didn't succeed.

သူဟာ အလုပ္လုပ္တာ ေကာင္းေသာ္လည္း စကားေျပာ မခ်ိဳပါ။

His mouth is not sweet though he is good at work.

ေမေမ ေနမေကာင္းေသာ္လည္း ထမင္းခ်က္ေနပါတယ္။

Mother is cooking curry although she is ill.

စာအုပ္ေတြဟာ ေဟာင္းေနေသာ္လည္း တန္ဖိုးရွိပါတယ္။

Books are valuable though they are very old.

ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းစာ  လူေသသြားေသာ္လည္း နာမည္မေသပါ။

၄။ အစား

Instead of

ငါ တနဂၤေႏြေန႕မွာ အလုပ္လုပ္မဲ့အစား  ေစ်း၀ယ္သြားခ်င္တယ္။

I would like to go shopping instead of working on Sunday.

သူေဌးက ငါ့အစား သူမကို ရန္ကုန္သို႕ ေစလႊြတ္ခဲ့တယ္။

The boss sent her to Yangon instead of me.

မင္းက ဒီရပ္ကြက္မွာေနမဲ့အစား ငါတုိ႕ၿမိဳ႕ကို ေျပာင္းလာခဲ့ပါလား။

Please move to our town instead of living in this quarter.

မင္း… ပန္းသီးစားမဲ့အစား စေတာ္ဘယ္ရီသီး စားၾကည့္ပါလား။

Please try strawberry instead of having an apple.

အကို… အိပ္ေနမဲ့အစား တခုခု လုပ္လိုက္ပါလား။

Hi Brother.. Please do something instead of sleeping.

အမ အခ်ိန္ျဖဳန္းေနမဲ့အစား ဘာသာစကား တခုခု ကိုသင္လိုက္ပါလား။

Please study some language instead of wasting time.

၅။ အလို႕ငွါ /  ျဖစ္ေစရန္   /  ျဖစ္ေအာင္

So that

ငါတုိ႕ နားလည္ေစရန္ အလို႕ငွါ ေက်းဇူးျပဳၿပီး စကားကို ေျဖးေျဖး ေျပာပါ။

Please speak slowly so that we can understand.

သူတို႕ဟာ ဘ၀ အဆင္ေျပေစရန္ အလို႕ငွါ အလုပ္ကို ႀကိဳးစား လုပ္ေနၾကတယ္။

They are working hard so that their lives are convenient.

ဆရာက တပည့္မ်ားကို လူေတာ္မ်ား ျဖစ္လာေစရန္ သင္ျပေပးတယ္။ 

The teacher teaches his students so that they are better men.

အေမဟာ ဟင္းေတြကို အရသာ ရွိလာေအာင္ ခ်က္တယ္။

Mother cooks curry so that it is delicious.

လူငယ္ေတြ တိုးတက္လာဖို႕ စာဖတ္သင့္တယ္။

The youth should read books so that they develop.

၆။ လြန္း၍  …..   ….       မလုပ္ႏိုင္

Too….  To

ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ပင္ပန္းလြန္းလို႕ အျပင္ကို မသြားႏိုင္ပါ။

I’m too tired to go out.

အျပင္ဘက္မွာ ပူလြန္းလို႕ မထိုင္ႏိုင္ပါ။

It’s too hot to sit outside.

သူမ ေျပာတာ ျမန္လြန္းလို႕ ကၽြန္ေတာ္  နားမလည္ပါ။

She speaks too fast for me to understand.

၇။ မ …. မဟုတ္ဘဲ  /   မပါဘဲ

Without

ခင္ဗ်ား အကူအညီမပါဘဲ ကၽြန္ေတာ္ ဒီအလုပ္ကို ၿပီးေအာင္ မလုပ္ႏိုင္ပါ။

I cannot finish this work without your help.

မင္းမရွိဘဲ ငါ အသက္မရွင္ႏိုင္ဘူး။

I can’t live without you.

ငါမရွိလည္း မင္းတို႕ အစည္းအေ၀းကို စတင္ႏိုင္ပါတယ္။

You can start the meeting without me.
